Sogn Paul church Rhäzüns

St Paul (Romansh: Sogn Paul), on the western outskirts of Rhäzüns, forms the counterpart to Sogn Gieri. There we can experience an authentic medieval interior, here works of art from four centuries appear in an exciting dialogue. Sogn Paul was originally a medieval church; the burial chamber of the Barons of Rhäzüns and a baroque nave were added later. The interior shows fragments of frescoes by the Waltensburger master and from a studio of the “gotico internazionale”. The altar is decorated with post-Gothic papiermâché copies of the relief in Sogn Gieri’s altar wings.
